Rochester Railroad History Timeline
- 1917 - Attica & Arcade Railroad formed
- 1932 - B&O Railroad formed
- 1956 - Rochester Subway ceases operation after years of declining ridership
- 1957 - ARA abandons 14 miles of its line from North Java to Attica
- 1964 - LAL formed
- 1971 - Amtrak formed
- 1976 - Conrail formed
- March 31, 1978 - Last revenue run on the Hojack Line
- 1979 - Hojack Line abandoned and torn up
- 1981 - LAL between Livonia and Conesus Jct. abandoned
- 1986 - Rochester & Southern Railroad Formed
- 1994 - Falls Road Branch between Rochester and Brockport abandoned and torn up
- October 1996 - Falls Road Railroad Company Formed, takes over line from Brockport to
Lockport
- June, 1997 - R&S loses one of its largest customers, Gannett Rochester Newspapers,
when they move to a new printing facility in Greece.
- 1997 - Proposal by CSX and NS to break up Conrail submitted to the STB
- June 1, 1999 - Conrail is officially divided between CSX and NS
- February, 2001 - LAL forms the Western New York and Pennsylvania Railroad to operate the
NS Olean Secondary between Hornell and Corry, PA
